As a child, Katie dreamed of being an ornithologist. When she grew up, Katie traded in her binoculars for a stethoscope, and later a keyboard. Currently, she's content to listen to birds on her computer, watch them through her window and write about them… occasionally.
Though technically an empty nester, Katie lives in Indiana with her husband Mike, daughter Caroline (a temporary nester who has returned for grad school) and her puppy, Opal. Sadly, her oldest son Nick has fledged the nest, for good, while her baby bird, Teddy, now migrates home only for the summers.
